Corona has turned the world upside down, and all of has have been forced to increase their online presence to stay connected with our friends and business partners. Although we would have preferred to meet all of you in person, we are glad we gave the digital format of this year's BIOFACH a try. We did struggle with the platform in the beginning, but we did our best to make good use of it.
Great interest in our BIOFACH Congress Integrity Session
Many participants joined our Integrity Session "Different perspectives on organic integrity and fraud", which was a great success. Brought together and moderated by our director Gerald A. Herrmann, our esteemed speakers Francis Blake (Alliance for Organic Integrity), Jochen Kleboth (Intact), Dr. John Spinck (Fraud Prevention Think Tank) and Peter Whelan (Food Safety Authority of Ireland) gave inspiring insights into the landscape of organic integrity and discussed fraud and fraud prevention from various perspectives, including legal issues, whistle blowing, the anatomy of fraud, data intelligence, geodata, and other. At this occasion, Gerald also presented our non-analytical integrity tool Check Organic which fights fraud through mass balancing.
Smooth online presentations on our integrity tools Check Organic, Group Integrity, and Ecert Basic
Luckily we had been doing online meetings and conferences for quite a while already so that our presentations on our integrity tools Check Organic, Group Integrity, and Ecert Basic went smoothly and without any technical hickups. Special thanks go to Mustafa Akyuz and Noe Riva from the certification bodies ETKO and MAYACERT who explained convincingly how their efficiency and credibility has increased since they have been using Ecert Basic, our software for the digitalisation of inspection and certification workflows. And a big thanks of course to all the attendees! We particularly appreciated the many questions that were asked and the immediate feedback that was given to us both in the chat during the presentations as well as in the discussion rounds afterwards.
Looking ahead: let's meet online more often!
If the digital BIOFACH 2021 has taught us one thing, it is that online meetings and presentations are a great, efficient way of connecting and reaching a broad audience whilst giving everyone the opportunity to interact.
